The heart of the console is the FPGA. It is an Altera Cyclone EP1C12Q240C6. This chip has 12 thousand function blocks which are each composed of 10 latch units and associated lookup tables. Fast carry chains are provided between function blocks for very efficient counters, adders, comparators, and other similar things. Resource usage is highly compact. There are two PLL blocks, and 48 dual port RAM blocks available for use.
