The FPGA Videogame Console

Video

The console's video circuitry was designed to be as flexible as possible. It uses and Analog Devices ADV7120 triple 8 bit video DAC for 24 bit colour, an AD725 NTSC/PAL video encoder, and a 74HC04 for synch signal buffering. The modes supported are:

VGA video (31KHz horizontal)
RGB with seperate synch (PAL and NTSC)
RGB with synch on green (PAL and NTSC)
S-video (PAL and NTSC)
composite video (PAL and NTSC)

A scan doubler included on the FPGA provides the switchable VGA and TV video output rates. The VGA resolution is 512*480 pixels.
